Blog Entry 1: Internet Research

"FAIRIES"

 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy

I found this website very interesting and useful because talks in deep detail about fairies. This website gives information on fairies:
  • Characteristics
  • Where they come from
  • Many theory's about them
  •  Peoples opinions and facts
  •  How fairy's became a legend
  • How they are put into literature in child stories
It also gives specific and good accurate details on every question you may have when you ask yourself about a fairy and much more information. What i loved about this site was that it used pictures to keep my imagination open as i was reading. All the information in the site made me want to keep on reading to learn more about each topic and my selected supernatural pick.

I learned many new things about fairy's and how this supernatural being was created. A fairy is stated to be a form of spirit and a legendary supernatural creature or being. The word fairy derives from Middle English, which means land, realm and describes certain characteristic from the folklore people in Old France. They are believed to have super natural powers, wings and are generally described as human in appearance but many see them as a mixed specie of demons, goddesses, gods, angels and humans. Legend has it that fairy's came from a babies laugh

"When the first baby laughed for the first time, his laugh broke into a million pieces, and they all went skipping about. That was the beginning of fairies." -Peter Pan in J. M. Barrie's 1902 novel The Little White Bird

Peter Pan and Tinker Bell (Fairy) in J. M. Barrie's 1902 novel The Little White Bird
One of the most popular and well known fairy's in literature and seen in Neverland is the novel version of J.M Barries's story Peter Pan, published in 1911, the character Tinker Bell is a tiny fairy who Peter Pan is always with she gives him the ability to fly and protects him against his enemy the pirates. This cute character
has become a pop culture icon for many.

They are believed to be metaphors of the stars in the night's sky, beings of love, nature and great source of energy either negative or positive. In some practical believes it was thought that fairy's were actually the cause of kidnapping  and forcing young men and women to dance at revels every night.

As you can see there are many theory's to a fairy and how someone can see and judge them. Everything i found and read in this website was very interested, useful and had my full attention. I loved the supernatural being that i choose and i can say that by reading all this information i am more aware and understand more that i knew about fairy's.
